Like just
about everyone else I can say that 2013 brought changes; some expected, some
unexpected; some sad, some joyous; some memorable and some I’d just as soon
forget.
Last year I
participated in the Writing Our Way Home
Mindful Writing Challenge (and I will be doing so again). Yes, being mindful and living in the ‘now’
takes practice, focus and being able to recognize when you’re obsessing about
the past or worrying about tomorrow’s appointments.
During the
Yule season I picked up a book called Living in the Moment by Anna
Black. Hmmm.. mindful meditations,
mindful eating, seeing, touching, a book that reminds me that there is never
just one way to do something (and instructions are for guidance only). Somebody
is trying to tell me something!
So that’s
my resolution, live in the moment. If I
can work on just “being” in the present I could enhance my meditation (okay,
okay, I could concentrate on my breathing for more that 3 minutes at a time),
lower stress (a biggie for me), and just be content being me (and not get
sucked into others’ drama).
